THIRD ISSUE

     
On 16/10/1396H (corresponding to 9/9/1976H.), the 3rd Issue of Saudi Banknotes was put in circulation during the Reign of King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz. This 3rd Issue included the One Hundred, the Fifty, the Ten, the Five and the One Saudi Riyal denominations
   

 

One Hundred Riyals Note: Third issue, circulated during the reign of King Khalid.

Obverse : Contains a view of the Holy Mosque in Makka. In the middle at the top appears the name of SAMA and the value of the note in Arabic. To the right is a picture of King Abdul-Aziz, with the undertaking by SAMA above it. To the left appears the water mark, the name of the King during whose reign the note was issued, the number and the date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued, the serial number, the security thread and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor. The value of the note, in numbers, is given in the four corners.

Reverse : Contains an external view of al-Mas'a (next to the Holy Mosque of Makka) inside an octagon and the name of SAMA, as well as the value of the note, in English.

Fifty Riyals Note: Third Issue, printed during the reign of King Khalid.

Obverse : Divided into three parts. In the middle is an inside view of the Prophet's Mosque. At the top is the name of SAMA in Arabic, and at the bottom is the value of the note. To the right is a picture of King Faisal and the undertaking of the Authority to pay the value of the note. To the left is the water mark, above which appears the number and date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued and the name of King during whose reign it was issued. The face includes also the serial number, the security thread and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor.

Reverse : Bears another inside view of the Prophet's Mosque, the name of SAMA and the value of the note in English, the water mark, the Kingdom's emblem and an octagonal shape.

Ten Riyals Note: Third Issue, circulated during the reign of King Khalid.

Obverse : In the middle is the view of a refinery. At the top is the name of SAMA in Arabic, and to the right is a picture of King Faisal and the undertaking to pay the value of the note by SAMA, To the left is the water mark, inside a polygon, and above this appear the number and date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued. The serial number and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor are seen below.

Reverse: Contains a picture of Ras Tannura Refinery. Above is the name of SAMA and below it the value of the note, both in English. On the left side of the note appears the Kingdom's emblem.

Five Riyals Note: Third Issue, circulated during the reign of King Khalid.

Obverse : Divided into three parts. The middle bears a picture of the modem irrigation canals at al-Hufuf, in the Eastern Region. Above it appears the name of SAMA in Arabic, and at the bottom is the value of the note. To the right is a picture of King Faisal together with the undertaking by the Authority. To the left is the security thread and the water mark. Above these appear the number and date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued, and below them we see the serial number and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor.

Reverse : In the middle is a picture of Jizan Valley Dam, with the name of SAMA in English above it. At the bottom is the value of the note in English. To the right is the water mark, and to the left is the Kingdom's emblem inside a circle.

One Riyal Note : Third Issue, circulated during the reign of King Khalid.

Obverse : Divided into three parts. In the middle is depicted al-Nur Mountain in Makkah. To the right is a picture of King Faisal, with the undertaking to pay the value of the note above the portrait. To the left are the security thread and the water mark inside a star-like shape. Above these appear the number and date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued and the name of the King At the top of the note appears the name of SAMA in Arabic, and at the bottom appears the value of the note, in words, and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor. The serial number appears at the bottom of the water mark., and the value in numbers is printed in the comers.

Reverse : Divided into three parts. In the middle is a view of Dhahran Airport; to the right is the water mark and to the left is the Kingdom's emblem. At the top is the name of SAMA in English, and at the bottom appears the value of the note in English too
