SECOND ISSUE

     
By virtue of Royal Decree No. 6, of 11 71 1379 A.H., the 100,50, 10,5 and 1 riyal notes were issued and put into circulation on 151 1 11 1379 A.H. (131 31 1968 A.D.). They were withdrawn from circulation I on 1.7,1400 H., and they could be exchanged only at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority and its branches.
   

 

One Hundred Riyals Note:  Second Issue, circulated during the reign of King Faisal.

Obverse : Contains a picture of the Cabinet's office building and the Kingdom's emblem. At the top, appear the name of SAMA, the number and date of the Royal Decree by the virtue of which the note was issued, the name of King Faisal, the value of the note in Arabic. The security thread and the watermark are on the left side. In the lower half we see the serial number and the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor.

Reverse : Contains a picture of the Aramco Refinery, the name of SAMA and the value of the note in English.

Fifty Riyals Note: Second Issue circulated during the reign of King Faisal.

Obverse: Contains the Kingdom's emblem, at the centre, with the value of the note (in words) beneath it. At the top appears the name of SAMA and the number and date of the Royal Decree and the name of King Faisal. Below that is the undertaking to pay the value of the note, with the signatures at the bottom. To the left appears an interior view of the Holy Mosque of the Prophet (at Madina) with the dome and a minaret. The value of the note in figures and the serial number are given in opposite comers.

Reverse: Contains a natural scene with palm trees, above it is the name of SAMA and under it is the value of the note both in English, at the left side of the Kingdom's emblem. On the right side of the note is the water mark.

Ten Riyals Note: Second Issue, circulated Reverse: Contains a view of the outer side of the during the reign of King Faisal.

Obverse: A picture of the Makka Holy Mosque with its towering minarets. At the top of the note appear the name of SAMA the number and date of the Royal Decree, the name of King Faisal, the undertaking to pay the value of the note, signed by the Minister of Finance and the Governor. On the left side are the water mark and security thread. In the comers is given the value of the note in numbers. The serial number appears in two places.

Reverse: Contains a view of the outer side of the al-Mas's (next to the Mecca Mosque) and, in the top right comer, the Kingdom's emblem. The name of SAMA in English appears at the top, and at the bottom the value of the note is given in English.

Five Riyals Note: Second Issue, circulated during the reign of King Faisal.

Obverse: Contains a picture of Dhahran Airport. At the top of the note appears the name of SAMA, the undertaking to pay the value of the note, the number and date of the Royal Decree and the name of King Faisal. On the left side appear the water mark and the security thread. The value of the note in words are given at the bottom. Above that appear the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor. The serial number is given in two places.

Reverse:  We see a picture of Dammam Sea Port,  the Kingdom's emblem, and the name of SAMA and the value of the note in English.

One Riyal Note: Second Issue, circulated during the reign of King Faisal.

Obverse : A rectangle with a picture representing the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jeddah. The water mark and the security thread are next to it. At the top of the rectangle appear the name of SAMA, the number and date of the Royal Decree by virtue of which the note was issued, the name of King Faisal, and the undertaking to pay the value of the note. The value of the note is given in words at bottom and in numbers in the comers. In the lower half we see the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor. The serial number is given in two places.

Reverse : At the centre is the Kingdom's emblem, inside an arch. To the left is an Arabesque design. The name of SAMA and the value of the note appear in English on this side.
