​​​​​​Overview

The fifth issue of Saudi Banknotes, which was printed in the era of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The 100 riyals and 50 riyals denominations were released on 04/05/1428H, corresponding to 21/05/2007, followed by releasing the ten riyals and five riyals denominations on 02/07/1428H, corresponding to 16/07/2007. The 500 riyals and one riyal denominations were released on 05/09/1428H. corresponding to 17/09/2007 and 21/12/1428H, corresponding to 31/12/2007 respectively. These new notes are circulated along with the preceding denominations as official currency. The new banknotes are distinguished by many technical specifications and security marks set according to the latest specifications in the field of banknote printing.

500 Riyals Note
  • Obverse:
  • ​The center features the picture of the Kaaba. On top of it appear the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the number and date of the Royal Decree pursuant to which it was issued, and the name of King Abdullah in Arabic. To the right of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdulaziz and the serial number. Under the picture, the value of the banknote is printed in Arabic. To the left, appear the watermark and foil strip which bear the emblem of Saudi Arabia and the value of the banknote. At the bottom, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA are printed.
  • Reverse:
  • A picture features the Holy Mosque of Makkah. On top of it, the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and the value of the banknote both appear in English. At the bottom of the right side of the banknote, the value of the banknote in English and the emblem of Saudi Arabia are shown.
500 Riyal Note Size and Color: (166mm x 74mm), Blue
 
100 Riyals Note
  • Obverse:
  • The center features the picture of the Green Dome of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. On top of it appear the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the number and date of the Royal Decree pursuant to which it was issued, and the name of King Abdullah in Arabic. On the right side of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdullah and the serial number. Under the picture, the value of the banknote in Arabic. On the left side of the banknote, the watermark and foil strip appear, bearing the emblem of Saudi Arabia and the value of the banknote. At the bottom of the banknote, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA.

50 Riyals Note

On top of it appear the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the number and date of the Royal Decree pursuant to which it was issued, and the name of King Abdullah in Arabic. On the right side of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdullah and the serial number. Under the picture is the value of the banknote in Arabic. On the left side of the banknote, the watermark and foil strip appear, bearing the emblem of Saudi Arabia and the value of the banknote. At the bottom of the banknote, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA.

  • A picture features Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. On top of it, the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and the value of the banknote in English. At the bottom, to the left of the banknote, appear the value of the banknote in English and the emblem of Saudi Arabia.
The 50 Riyal Note Size and Color: (155 mm x 70 mm), Green
 
Ten Riyals Note
  • Obverse:
  • The center features Al-Murabba’ Palace. On top of it appear the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the number and date of the Royal Decree pursuant to which it was issued, and the name of King Abdullah in Arabic. To the right of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdullah and the serial number. Under the picture, the value of the banknote is indicated in Arabic. To the left, the watermark and foil strip are placed. At the bottom, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA.
  • Reverse:
  • A picture features the buildings of the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh. At the top, appear the name of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and the value of the banknote in English. At the bottom, to the right side of the banknote, the value of the banknote in English and the emblem of Saudi Arabia are shown.
The 10 Riyal Note Size and Color: (150 mm x 68 mm), Gray
 
Five Riyals Note

To the right of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdullah and the serial number. Under the picture, the value of the banknote in Arabic. To the left, the watermark and foil strip are shown. At the bottom, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA.
  • Reverse:
  • A picture features Jubail Commercial Seaport in the Eastern Region. At the top, the name of the​ Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency appears, and the value of the banknote in English is shown. At the bottom, to the right side of the banknote, is the value of the banknote in English and the emblem of Saudi Arabia.
The 5 Riyal Note Size and Color: (145mm x 66mm), Purple
 
One Riyal Note
  • ​Obverse:
  • The center features the front side of the first Islamic coin, at the center of which was inscribed "لا اله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له" (There is no god but Allah alone with no partner or associate); in the margin "محمد رسول الله أرسله بالهدى و دين الحق ليظهره على الدين كله" (Mohammad is the messenger of Allah, He sent him with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion). On top of it appear the name of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the number and date of the Royal Decree pursuant to which it was issued, and the name of King Abdullah in Arabic. To the right of the banknote, a picture represents King Abdullah and the serial number. Below the picture, the value of the banknote is displayed in Arabic. To the left, the watermark and foil strip are shown. At the bottom, the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of SAMA.
