On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, the Saudi Central Bank hosted a meeting of the Financial and Banking Committee of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, at the Saudi Central Bank's headquarters in Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Saudi Central Bank, headed by His Excellency the Vice Governor, Mr. Ayman bin Mohammed Alsayari, and representatives of the Central Bank of Iraq, headed by His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Mustafa Ghalib Mukheef, together with members of the committee from both sides. The Committee reviewed a number of issues of common interest and discussed ways of developing banking and financial relations between the two countries.

As part of the efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two central banks and to further develop the relationship between both organizations, and in view of the desire of the Iraqi side to benefit from the expertise of the Saudi Central Bank, the Iraqi delegation attended a meeting with the Saudi Central Bank to discuss and share views and ideas related to a number of issues falling within the scope of the role and responsibilities of the two central banks. The meeting aimed at identifying ways to strengthen safety and stability in the financial services, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the financial sector; including FinTech and digital banking.
