SAMA Introduces Controls for Provision of Necessary Services not Available Online for Financial Institutions

Further to SAMA’s instructions on remote working in financial institutions that include minimizing the number of working branches to provide only the necessary services that are not available online, and in order to avoid crowding, and for the safety of bank staff and customers, SAMA has introduced controls for the working bank branches in the Kingdom.


SAMA has instructed financial institutions to set a maximum number, not to be exceeded, of customers to be served at the same time according to the size of the branch and ensure safe distance between customers in waiting areas, and between bank staff and customers as well. SAMA has stressed on the importance of adherence to the precautionary measures set out in the MOH guidelines on Coronavirus prevention in workplaces. SAMA has also instructed financial institutions to check customers for fever at all entrances, provide sanitizers, and provide staff with the necessary safety products. Furthermore, financial institutions must encourage customers to use digital channels for their safety and closely monitor and comply with all instructions issued by competent authorities.
