SAMA would like to announce that it has noticed speculations circulated nowadays on social media that include the release date of the new issue of banknotes and coins of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in addition to images of different banknote and coin denominations as the presumed ones to be put into circulation. Therefore, SAMA would like to clarify that all images and information on the release date of the new issue are completely incorrect and baseless and confirm that there is no plan to issue a SR1,000 banknote.

As for coin images, SAMA would like to point out that such images are for the SR1 coin that was minted and put in circulation in 1419H, and can be obtained from all SAMA branches across the Kingdom.

By denying the validity of such images and information, SAMA stresses that the development of banknotes and coins for the era of King Salman is underway, incorporating the best technical specifications, the strongest security features and the highest international quality standards. The new issue will be released according to the project's timetable and the release date will be announced through the media well before the circulation.
