SAMA to Sponsor Training Program in Islamic Banking

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has adopted an initiative to strengthen its role in supporting Islamic banking through programs which aim at developing national manpower specialized in this industry and qualifying new graduates from Shari'a colleges to work in the banking sector, and to meet the objectives of the Financial Sector Development Program (FSDP.(

SAMA is sponsoring a training program in the field of Islamic banking held by the Financial Academy in Riyadh during the period from 10th of March to 2nd of May 2019, with the participation of 40 undergraduate trainees who held Shari'a qualifications.

SAMA explained that the program will last for two months and it encompasses eight training courses in Islamic banking focusing on building the basic concepts and principles of the banks operating in this sector. In addition, these training courses introduce the legal environment of the Islamic banking in the Kingdom, developments and challenges facing Islamic banking.  The training courses will also include case studies of Islamic financial products and Shari'a auditing and supervision mechanisms in Islamic banks. The program will also include a practical application involves sending trainees to the Saudi banks to implement and practice what have been studied in the training courses.
