The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has launched the "Saudi Currency" smartphone application, coinciding with the 90th Saudi National Day, with the aim of spreading knowledge and awareness of the Sixth Issue of the Saudi banknotes; which was issued during the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud may Allah protect him. The application also helps differentiating between authentic and other banknotes. 

 The application, which is available on Android and iOS official operating systems, helps users to interactively review and identify the security features embedded in the authentic banknotes in a clear and accurate manner, as if it is a real banknote. The application also provides general information on what to do in case someone encounters a counterfeit banknote, penalty of counterfeiting banknotes, controls for reproduction of the banknotes, penalty for distorting banknotes, and the compensation for damaged cash.

 The "Saudi Currency" application also includes a number of features, including recognizing the design of the front and back of the banknote and the technical features of the Sixth Issue of the Saudi banknotes in an interactive manner where users can feel the security features and their placement.  This can be experinced by carrying the mobile phone as if it is a real banknote and tilting, looking at, and feeling the security features according to the given instruction. The user can also identify technical characteristics of the security features in the genuine banknote. Some of which includes the three dimensional security stripe, the bright silver stripe, the special ink layer, the watermark, the tactile printing and the shape of paper under ultraviolet rays. This makes it easier for the banknote trader to easily identify the genuine banknote.
