The Saudi Arabian Monetary
Authority (SAMA) has concluded its awareness campaign under the slogan
"More Financial Awareness". The campaign lasted for five weeks across
the Kingdom covering around 30 commercial centers in 14 cities. The total
number of visitors to these exhibitions exceeded more than 130 thousand visitors.
The campaign, which targeted various segments of the society, was part of
SAMA's ongoing efforts in organizing awareness and education campaigns among
the public.
Through these
exhibitions, which witnessed a high turnout of visitors, SAMA sought to raise
the level of financial and knowledge awareness in the society. Visitors were introduced to the
characteristics of the national currency and the security signs shown to
identify the sound card. The campaign also aims to promote positive behavior in
dealing with currency-denominations by encouraging their
use in daily transactions, in addition to promote saving culture among children
in particular by creating a corner of their own. The corner witnessed a great
interaction by children taking part in the drawing and coloring activity. More
than 70,000 copies of booklets and magazines were distributed containing
awareness stories.
SAMA
also sought to educate clients of the financial institutions supervised by SAMA
about their rights and responsibilities, clarify the communication channels
provided by SAMA to receive customer complaints and inquiries and address them
with the concerned authorities and inform them of their financial rights that
enable them to make correct financial decisions commensurate with their
financial needs and obligations. In addition to raising awareness of activity
in the unauthorized Forex and the protection from falling into financial fraud.
Exhibitions
included the distribution of more than 86,000 leather wallets to save and
facilitate the use of coins, and specially designed educational and
entertainment items containing awareness publications totaling about 40,000
publications, in addition to a competition on SAMA account on twitter. Winners
received valuable prizes. This aimed primarily at delivering a variety of
awareness messages through SAMA social media accounts.
This
awareness campaign comes within the framework of the Financial Sector
Development Program - one of the programs of realizing the Kingdom's Vision
2030 - which aims to build a sophisticated, diversified and effective financial
sector to support the development of the national economy, stimulate savings,
finance and investment, by developing and deepening financial sector
institutions, and strengthening and enabling financial planning.
