Internal Auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve SAMA operations. It helps the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

 

Internal Audit Department adopts a risk- based approach in internal audit for SAMA. In this approach, audit resources and efforts are targeted at the key risk and directed towards the most important activities when developing the annual plan, or when planning and conducting audit functions.

The scope of the internal audit department includes review of the activities, processes and procedures for risk management activities and internal control, information systems, and governance processes. This is done through periodic audit for selected sample, best practices review, investigations, and evaluation of regulatory requirements and procedures that help protect against fraud.

 

Audit universe includes all activities, functions, departments and branches of SAMA.

 

Internal Audit functions rely on with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (the Standards) issued by the IIA .
