Due to incomplete compliance by a number of insurance companies with the regulatory requirements for motor-insurance-related claim settlements and customers' complaint processing despite SAMA's constant follow-up, and in accordance with Article (19) of Law on Supervision of Cooperative Insurance Companies, issued under Royal Decree No. (M/32) on 02/06/1424H, SAMA would like to announce that it has suspended the companies, Malath, Medgulf and ACIG from issuing new motor insurance policies as of 29/02/1438H (29/11/2016). SAMA would also like to indicate that the suspension will not be lifted unless the companies correct their irregularities and comply with standards and terms that protect the rights of the policyholders and beneficiaries of the insurance coverage. The suspension decision shall not relieve those companies from their obligations towards their current insurance policies and the claims arising therefrom. In case those companies fail to correct their irregularities, SAMA will take additional regulatory procedures against them. This decision is made in view of SAMA's keenness on protecting the rights of the policyholders and beneficiaries of insurance coverage and its strong strive to prevent any illegal practices in the insurance sector.
