SAMA Sets Bank WORKING Hours during Ramadan & the two Eids

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has determined the working hours of banks and The Saudi Arabian Riyal Interbank Express (SARIE) during the holy month of Ramadan and al-fitr and al-adha eid of the year 1439H, in accordance to Article 16 of the Banking Control Law.
SAMA clarified that in its circular that daily working hour of banks and SARIE system will be starting on 10 AM until 4 PM. The holiday will start on Tuesday 28 Ramadan, corresponding to 12 of June 2018, and work will resume on Wednesday 6th of Shawwal, corresponding to 20 of June 2018. Eid al-adha is scheduled to begin on 5 of Dhu alhijjah, corresponding to 16 of August 2018. Banks will resume their business on Sunday 15 of Dhu al-hijja according to the calendar of Umm al-qura.
SAMA asserted that banks offices and their seasonal branches in the cities of Makkah, Al-Madinah and on the borders to be open during the Hajj season including Fridays and Saturdays to serve pilgrims and visitors. Banks are also required to open their branches where there is great demand and in densely populated areas i.e., (airports & borders) during Eid and to inform SAMA with the branches names and times, in addition to public the necessary announcements.

As for The Saudi Arabian Riyal Interbank Express (SARIE), SAMA clarified that the system will pause its business by the end of Wednesday, 29 Ramadan, corresponding to 23 June 2018 and it will resume on the fourth of Shawwal, corresponding to 18th of June 2018. SARIE will pause its business for al-adha ‘Eid on Sunday 8th of Dhu-alhijja, corresponding to 19 of Aug 2018 and resume on 12 Dhu-alhijja, corresponding to 23 of Aug. Noting that the clearinghouse will be working in accordance with SARIE times.
