The first phase of the "Taqdeer" program for monitoring and assessing traffic accidents damages was recently launched through four accredited centers in Riyadh within this stage of implementing the program adopted by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), the General Directorate of Traffic, the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers, and the accredited insurance companies in the Kingdom as well as a number of related parties.
The "Taqdeer" program seeks to facilitate and accelerate post-accident procedures through an advanced electronic system and advanced service centers. The program also works on controlling the assessment of traffic accidents damages in order to complete procedures, and develop appropriate compensation estimates for these accidents. These operations are conducted according to a mechanism that aim is to reduce the effort and time for accident assessors working within these centers. Assessments here include spare parts and determine maintenance costs, and then the full details of the assessment process are sent electronically to the insurance company or the relevant authorities for the finalizing of compensation procedures.
His Excellency Al-Kholifey, Governor of "SAMA" stated that this program is considered a qualitative step in the field of assessing the damages of traffic accidents and alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries. SAMA believes that a fair assessment preserves the rights of everyone and contributes to raising the level of professionalism. SAMA directed all insurance companies operating in the Kingdom to connect with the automated system and approve the prices of the issued estimates. SAMA warned against charging the victims of traffic accidents any additional fees for the assessment as these companies bear the payment of these fees directly to the assessment centers. SAMA direction also included that insurance companies cannot demand the beneficiary to present the damaged vehicle to the company to determine the extent of the damage.
It should be noted that SAMA recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers aiming to organize the profession of assessing traffic accidents damages in the Kingdom through coordination between the two sides in the field of vehicle damage assessment profession. This will help balancing and preserving all the rights of the affected parties from the insured, and assessment centers , Assessors, and car maintenance workshops in cooperation with insurance companies. Based on this agreement, the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers has established centers for assessing vehicles and estimating accident damage in accordance with international standards and standards in this field, and the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority obliges insurance companies to deal directly with centers for assessing vehicle damage.
