Based on what has been said recently that there is shortage of the new coins, Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) assured that there is an ample supply of all coins categories including the sixth issue which was minted during the reign of King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz the custodian of the two holy mosques may Allah protect him. Nevertheless, coins can be obtained through SAMA branches and Commercial banks all over the kingdom. In case of difficulty in obtaining coins from banks, a Complaint could be submitted to SAMA consumer protection department website or the Toll line 800-125-6666. SAMA clarifies that the increasing demand is partially attributed to the application of VAT and the over-demand on small coins especially 5 and 10 halalas is highly expected until their use prevails among individual and sales points. SAMA constantly adapts to the over-demand on all coins categories in order to fulfill possible rise in demands and replenish shortage.
