The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority warns against responding to suspicious messages that use its name in fraud activities

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has warned all citizens and residents of falling victim to one of the financial fraud practices by responding to suspicious messages that use their (name) or the sender claims to be one of the institution's employees, using various means of communication.

This warning came after "SAMA" detected during the last period a number of fraudulent calls and text messages by unknown entities and persons. They attempt to obtain access to personal banking data of individuals by impersonating the name of the institution or claiming that the sender is one an employee of the institution, and deluding its recipients of holding sums of money belong to them. They might also request updating their account information via providing them with phone numbers or phishing electronic links.

SAMA confirms that it does not keep any deposits or money belongs to individuals, nor does it conduct financial operations for them or on their behalf in accordance with the system. SAMA asserts the importance of safeguarding personal banking data. Moreover, SAMA warns against responding to suspicious messages, noting that fraudulent activities vary but their goal remains the same, which is stealing your money or utilizing your bank account for illegal transactions.

SAMA clarified that it in order to safeguard financial transactions and protect banks' clients in the Kingdom and fight crimes, clients should obtain relevant information through official sources only.
