SAMA: Some branches of financial institutions continue to operate in the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah

                Referring to the instructions of the Ministry of Interior issued today, 9 Shaaban 1441 AH, corresponding to April 2, 2020 AD, within the Kingdom's efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, and in implementation of the recommendations of the health authorities requiring curfews throughout the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah over a period of 24 hours. And for the possibility of allowing those wishing to use Bank services and automated teller machines; The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Health, decided to allocate a minimum number of branches of financial institutions. This aims to provide only necessary services that cannot be provided through electronic channels, provided that the working hours in these branches are from (nine) in the morning until (one) in the afternoon, and to ensure that they apply preventive measures and health advice within those branches and centers; In order to protect the safety of employees of financial institutions and their customers.

                SAMA directed all financial institutions to announce their branches that will continue to provide their services by appropriate means, and to ensure the availability of the necessary operational support to ensure the continuity of the work of all payment systems and the associated business, and to continuously monitor automatic teller machines, and to ensure the availability of cash in them. SAMA aims to achieve the target operating percentages and activate all call centers to receive customer requests and inquiries, while continuously monitoring the performance of the various electronic channels and ensuring their operational efficiency.

                The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority urges all bank customers to carry out their financial operations through electronic channels, in order to preserve their safety.
