The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), after coordination with the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control, "Weqaya", clarified that paper currency, coin and other means of payment are not different from the daily items that we deal with in the possibility of transmitting viruses. Therefore, SAMA calls on everyone to follow personal hygiene measures in dealing with all items of various kinds, and to protect themselves from infection with this virus by paying attention to washing hands well with soap and water continuously and communicating with the concerned medical authorities when Feeling the symptoms of the flu.

                SAMA confirms that it is following up and coordinating with the relevant authorities inside and outside the Kingdom to take all preventive and precautionary measures followed by central banks to deal with currency or other means of payment in times of spread of diseases and viruses. Among those procedures the isolating of all Saudi currencies received by SAMA's branches from outside the Kingdom through banks and money transfer companies, as a preventive and precautionary measure.
